NWA 2086 with Large CAI

This is a specimen from the meteorite, NWA 2086. It has a Total Known Weight of just 780g and has been classified as a CV3, W1, S1. The most notable feature in the below endcut is the large white CAI. CAI's are: Ca-Al-Rich Inclusions or Calcium-Aluminium Rich Inclusions. They represent some of the oldest material ever found and date back to the initial formation or beginning of our Solar System. This specimen is part of the Meteorites Australia Collection.
