Camel Donga

Camel Donga was initially found in Western Australia, Australia by Mrs. J.C. Campbell in January, 1984 in the form of a 503g individual. Later in July 1985, B. Mason and W H. Cleverly found another 11 stones within 1km of the initial find site. Many other stones have since been found which were classified as a Eucrite. Camel Donga stones are renowned for their beautiful black glassy fusion crust which often displays flow lines and/or orientation such as the example below. The Camel Donga Eucrite is also quite unique from the perspective that it contains a relatively high amount of metallic iron which is ~2%. This specimen is part of the Meteorites Australia Collection (MA.08.0021).
